We will meet in front of the “Staatsoper” (Opera House). From there we go by tram to the “Obere Belvedere” and walk down to the “Untere Belvedere” to visit the exhibition of
Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller
(1793 – 1865)
Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller (1793 - 1865) was one of the most important Austrian painters of the Biedermeier period. Whether it was the conquest of the landscape and thus the convincing rendering of closeness or distance, the accurate characterisation of the human face, the detailed and refined description of textures, or the depiction of rural everyday life: his works - brilliant, explanatory, moralising, and socially critical - influenced a whole generation of artists.
Entrance fee: Euro 10.- ( guided tour in English included) www.belvedere.at
Afterwards we will have lunch together at the “Brauhaus SALM”, Rennweg 8 1030 Wien.
If you wish to take part at the “Waldmüller” exhibition , please let us know when registering.
If you do not go to the Waldmüller exhibition, but would like to have lunch with the group, you are welcome to join. Take tram 71 and get off at “Unteres Belvedere”.
